The International Conclave on Good Governance 2024, held in London from 11–13 September, brought together influential leaders, policymakers, and changemakers from India and the United Kingdom to foster dialogue on leadership, governance, and sustainable development.
Organized by Nachiket Joshi, Founder of the World Leadership Forum, the conclave centered on the theme “Viksit Bharat 2047”, celebrating India’s progress toward becoming one of the world’s leading economies. The event highlighted India’s commitment to transparency, innovation, and international cooperation.
The conclave commenced at London City Hall on 11 September, hosted by Assembly Member Krupesh Hirani, with sessions focused on Women Empowerment, Climate Change, Sustainable Development, and the global initiative “Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE)”. The day concluded with the Women of Impact Awards, honouring exceptional women for their leadership and contributions to society.
On 12 September, the focus shifted to the House of Commons, where a session on Good Governance was hosted by Padma Shri Bob Blackman, MP for Harrow East, and Cllr Anjana Patel, Deputy Mayor of Harrow. The session featured a special tribute to former MP Virendra Sharma, celebrating his 50 years of exemplary public service. Dignitaries in attendance included Seema Malhotra, Under-Secretary at the Home Office; MPs Shivani Raja, Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, Deirdre Costigan, Andy Slaughter; Peter Mason, Leader of Ealing Council; IPS Deepak Choudhary from the Indian High Commission; and Umesh Patel, MP from Daman and Diu.
The final day, 13 September, featured a Gala Lunch at the House of Lords, hosted by Lord German and anchored by Raageshwari Loomba, singer and mindfulness coach. Special guests included Aditi Varda Sunil Tatkare, Minister of Women & Child Development (Maharashtra); MP Shivani Raja; Vijay Goel, Founder of the Indo-European Business Forum (IEBF); and former MPs Paul Scully and Virendra Sharma. A moving children’s performance on sustainability added inspiration to the occasion.
The conclave concluded with a cultural celebration at Brent Civic Centre, supported by Deputy Leader of Brent Council, Cllr Mili Patel, and Mayor of Brent, Tariq Dar, showcasing the strength of India–UK cultural and community ties.
The conclave celebrated the shared vision of effective governance, sustainability, and cross-cultural collaboration — reinforcing the enduring partnership between India and the United Kingdom.
Celebrating a Legacy of Service: Virendra Sharma’s 50 Years of Public Leadership and Dedication during International Conclave on Good Governance.
A highlight of the International Conclave on Good Governance 2024 was the heartfelt celebration of Virendra Sharma’s 50 years of exemplary public service. The special session at the House of Commons honoured his remarkable journey as Member of Parliament for Ealing Southall, recognising his decades of dedication to public life and his lasting contributions to the Labour Party, his local community, and the broader British political landscape.
The event was graced by an esteemed gathering of dignitaries and leaders from both the United Kingdom and India. Among the distinguished guests were Bob Blackman, MP for Harrow East; Seema Malhotra, Under-Secretary at the Home Office; Shivani Raja, MP for Leicester East; Deirdre Costigan, MP for Ealing Southall; Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi, MP for Slough; Andy Slaughter, MP for Hammersmith and Chiswick; Peter Mason, Leader of Ealing Council; and Bassam Mahfouz, Assembly Member for Ealing & Hillingdon. Representing India were IPS Deepak Choudhary, Minister Coordination at the Indian High Commission, and Umesh Patel, Member of Parliament from Daman and Diu. The event was organised by Nachiket Joshi, Founder of the World Leadership Forum, in collaboration with Cllr Anjana Patel, Deputy Mayor of Harrow, and was elegantly anchored by Khushboo Shah. The gathering reflected the deep respect and admiration shared across nations for Virendra Sharma’s lifelong dedication to public service, community leadership, and the strengthening of Indo-British relations.
This year’s theme, Viksit Bharat 2047, celebrated India’s journey toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy while spotlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in strengthening governance, transparency, and global collaboration.
